Mark Jones

[fr] Born in Liverpool, England, Mark Jones made France his home in 1992.

Self-taught artist with no formal training, Mark spent most of his early professional life in art and design studios and print houses in the South of England, working as a freelance illustrator. After the move to France and with the demands of a young growing family the need to find a more regular income was imperative, he now runs a successful company in Brittany France.



Never fully leaving the art world behind, Mark continues to illustrate and paint.

The latest body of work « Ghosts and Graffiti » is an attempt to understand and reflect on the impact we all have within this space of time we call life.

Mark writes: « With my paintings I do not want to give the viewer my image of my life by presenting them with a finished narrative, I want to give them a space to reflect on their own, to look, think and feel without distraction. »

Artiste sans formation académique, Mark a tout d’abord travaillé en tant qu’illustrateur indépendant pour des studios d’art et design et d’imprimeries dans le sud de l’Angleterre.

Une fois arrivé en France, avec la responsabilité d’une famille, la nécessité de trouver une source de revenu régulière s’est imposée ; il est aujourd’hui gérant d’une entreprise en Bretagne. Il n’a pas pour autant délaissé la peinture et l’illustration.



Ses créations actuelles s’inscrivent sous le titre de « Ghosts and Graffiti », une réflexion sur l’impact de chacun de nous durant cet espace-temps nommé la vie.

« Dans mes peintures je ne cherche pas à montrer une image de ma propre vie en présentant un narratif achevé, je propose aux gens un espace qui leur permette d’avoir une réflexion sur leur propre vie, à observer, penser et ressentir sans distraction. »
